(Warning – Emotional Subject)
Most of you won’t know this, but when I was in secondary school, I was bullied….
My whole class turned against me and one day after school I was slapped round the face by a girl, so hard she left her hand print on my cheek and when I walked past a teacher they didn’t even notice.
This is when I felt like I wanted to end it all, I actually for a split second wanted my life to end, and to make it all stop. This had been going on for too long and I hadn’t told anyone and I could cope anymore.
Thankfully I had (and still have) an Amazing Mum and Dad and once they knew what had been going on, they quickly stepped in and sorted things out. It’s sad to look back and think that the school wouldn’t even admit they had a bullying problem until my dad threatened to go to the newspapers.
There was no support, teachers hadn’t even noticed what was going on in the classroom when people were all moving away from, calling me names or kicking my chair as they walked past.
It took a long time, but over the years I have learned to be stronger, to not care so much about what others think and to fight for things that I care about, and to never give up.
My Journey and experiences have led to Amy’s Boutique being created.
As I’ve got older, I’ve realised I have an innate passion to be my own boss, to help people, and make sure I never make anyone feel the way I was made to feel when I was bullied.
My mission is to help ladies look amazing and feel amazing and my customer are invited to immerse themselves in the “Amy” experience where I want –
All my customers to feel Amazing
For the experience to be Memorable
To let me help and celebrate You
Some people think I just own a dress shop, but to me it is so much more, I love what I have been able to create, I have a beautiful little Boutique, I love what I do and most importantly I love all of my customers and supporters because without you, my business wouldn’t be here
I want to leave a legacy for my daughter, I want her to grow up believing she can be anything she wants to be and to never stop dreaming. I also want to show her anything is possible.
I’m sure that when I left school, not many people would have thought I would be where I am today – A Business Owner who has been an Award Finalist 3 years in a row and when I stop and take it all in, I’m bloody PROUD of myself!
It is not always easy being a business owner, and Covid-19 has certainly put a spanner in the works this year, which has resulted in months of un-certainty for me and sadly some of my old insecurities have reared their ugly head again.
I know lockdown has been a very difficult time for so many of us. I want to be the best version of me, for my family and friends and also my customers. So I have been learning new skills and working on my mental health.
I hope that in time, customers will return, events will happen again and the business will grow, plus you never know I might just win that award this year in October (fingers crossed)
So please if you can….
Shop local and Support Businesses, that care about You
We Really do Appreciate it!
Thank You, Amy xxx
